Can't join Teams meetings through Outlook: confirm Outlook is online, and check whether Egress Prevent is blocking send/join actions (see Egress Prevent article) — if the Prevent Shield has flagged something, resolve it via the side panel first.
Teams status bubble not showing in Outlook:
- Update both Teams and Outlook to the latest version.
- Fully quit and reopen both apps.
- In Teams Settings (General tab), ensure "Register Teams as the chat app for Office" is checked.
- In Outlook, go to File > Options > People, and ensure "Display online status next to name" is checked.
- Clear the Teams cache: close Teams, delete the contents of
%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, then reopen Teams and Outlook. - Sign out and back in to both apps.
- If nothing else works, reinstall Teams and Outlook.
Teams phone number isn't working: update Teams, check the network connection, verify the number is entered correctly in Teams settings, and restart Teams and the device. If unresolved, escalate to IT support.
Teams forces an update every time it starts: usually automatic updates, a pending update that didn't finish, network interruptions during update, missing admin permissions, or a corrupted install. Try checking for updates manually from the profile menu, restarting the computer, confirming a stable network connection, and reinstalling Teams if it persists.
Requesting access to a Teams channel: contact the channel owner or IT to be added.
